Becoming a Christain

Becoming a Christian

Wondering what does it mean to be a Christian and how to become one? Read what the Bible says below:

John 3:16,17 – “For God so loved the world (this includes you), that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.  For God did not send the Son
into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.”

Jesus said in John 10:10 – “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly
(full and meaningful).”

Many people do not experience this abundant life because of an issue called sin.
Sin, in its basic definition, is missing the mark of what God says is good and right.
For example, if our target was to obey God’s Word, sin would be missing the target.

Romans 3:23 says, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

Isaiah 59:2 – “But your iniquities (sins) have separated you from your God.”

There is only one true God.  There is no other.
Sin separates us from Him, whether it is sin because of rebellion, indifference, or ignorance,
the result is the same for us all.

The bad news is…

Romans 6:23
 – For the wages of sin is death…

The good news is…

Romans 6:23
 – but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

God created the world and, more importantly, loves the world.
It is His desire for proper relationship to be restored.
When Jesus died on the cross the payment for our sin was paid for us
and we can now be reconciled to God.

1 Peter 3:18 – For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust,
so that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the Spirit.

How do we receive salvation?

Romans 10:9-13
says, “If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart
that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes,
resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.
For the scripture says, whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed.
For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all,
abounding in riches for all who call on Him;
for whoever will call on the Name of the Lord will be saved.”

1 John 1:9 – If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins
and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Why should I be saved?

The main reason is because God loves you and wants you to be saved.

1 Timothy 2:4 says,
“God desires all men (everyone) to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

The second reason is because we will all stand before
the judgment seat of Christ to answer for our lives.

Please read Revelation 20:11-15.

For those who have been forgiven and redeemed, their names are written in the
Lambs Book of Life and they will have access to the Kingdom of God.
The way is open to all people,
we must simply be willing to go the path God has chosen.
God has already made His choice.
He wants to spend all of eternity with you.
Will you choose Him?  The final decision is yours.

If you are ready to receive Jesus as your Savior, you can pray this prayer:

Lord Jesus, I confess that I’m a sinner and I cannot save myself.
I believe You died for me and Your blood was shed for me.
I ask You to forgive me of my sins and help me to live for You.
Please fill me with Your Holy Spirit and help me to do what is right.  Amen.

We encourage you to read His Word and pray – He is always available – and find a Bible-teaching
Christian church and go to church, and grow in your relationship with Jesus.
